Event Details

Aspire, in partnership with Future Foundations, aims to address the issue of under representation of students from non-privileged backgrounds at the UK’s leading Universities by the launch of an Easter School targeted at up to 150 Gifted and Talented students attending schools in the boroughs of Bexley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark, and Wandsworth.

The three day immersion programme (30th March to 1st April) hosted by King's College London Students' Union will include: -

  • Study Skills Sessions
  • Personal Development Workshops
  • Leadership Training and Simulations
  • Future of Work workshops
  • Peer to Peer Support
  • Undergraduate Mentoring
  • Goal Setting

The objectives of the programme are to:

-      Help students reach their academic potential through tailored workshops in how to study, manage time, and develop revision techniques.

-      Prepare the students for the future world of work, by nurturing future of work skills and broadening their understanding of work.

-      Develop the leadership potential of the students.

-      Broaden the students’ horizons through Undergraduate Mentoring ,

-      Raise aspirations and increase students’ awareness of the benefits of Higher Education through small group workshops, and one on one consultations.

-      Remove finance as a major barrier to HE, by delivering financial capability workshops

-      Build a network of bright students who will support each other through their studies

-      Increase performance in AS exams

Who can take part?

Up to 15 students from each borough within South East London.  They will be selected on the basis of school nominations.  To be eligible the students will need to be on EMA and capable of gaining top grades.

How much will it cost?  Attendance is free for students who meet the criteria.  However, they must be committed and failure to attend may result in a financial penalty.

Applications will be by nomination from the school/college, as there are limited spaces we must have fully committed students.

If you are a teacher who would like to nominate students, please register on this page.  We will then email you the application form and keep you up to date on information regarding the programme.

If you have any questions about the programme please contact your Aimhigher Borough Coordinator, or Jon Harper (jon@future-foundations.co.uk)
